The Chester County Open event provided a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact while connecting with supporters of causes I care about, like VEP and the Food Cupboard. Having played tennis for over three decades, participating in this event for a sport I love alongside people I’ve known for over twenty years is truly exciting. It is a rewarding experience, blending my passion for tennis with meaningful charitable work and the chance to reconnect with old friends and fellow supporters.

I have been involved with helping out a food shelter for a number of years because I believe no one should suffer from hunger (especially children and the disabled). The Cupboard does a very good job helping to meet this need.
It provides a sense of purpose and helps me feel that I am contributing to something larger than myself.
Knowing that my involvement can inspire others to support the causes or make a difference.”

I also love volunteering to raise funds for two wonderful non-profit organizations: the food cupboard and VEP, both of which provide essential support to those in need within our community.
Building a sustaining and competitive local environment for the sport of Tennis, and, meeting some amazing sportsmen and women have been a motivation for me, for a sport that I love and have been playing for over four decades!!
"I have been playing tennis for many years and getting involved in organizing this annual tournament gives me an opportunity to bring local talent and a sense of formality to the local tennis scene in Chester County.Getting this tournament recognized by the USTA was the icing on the cake and helping out local charities like VEP and food banks is the cherry on that cake!"

“The second is the West Chester Food Cupboard- a great resource for those who are homeless or have lost a lot in this World. I have served and supported Food Banks, Food Shelters and Food Cupboards for a long time and it is a great way to give back to the community.

Supporting food cupboards is essential for addressing food insecurity in communities. They provide immediate assistance to families facing hunger, ensuring access to nutritious food during crises and emergencies. Food cupboards also help reduce food waste by redistributing surplus food from grocery stores and farms.
"I am proud to contribute to our mission of promoting tennis and making a positive impact in our community. Through our initiatives, we not only foster a love for the sport but also contribute local non-profits. It’s truly rewarding to be part of a team that combines athletic passion with community spirit, driving meaningful change both on and off the court.”
The game of tennis has taught me three things that I apply to my everyday life: patience, confidence, and strategy. I use these skills daily, and the sport has played a major role in helping me refine them. I truly enjoy being involved in this organization and making a large impact within our community.
For over 30 years, I’ve channeled my love for tennis into supporting local charities in Chester County. My wife, Carisa, shares this community spirit through her work with the Volunteer English Program. Together, we’ve found a home at Chester County Tennis, founded by Krishna Gopal. Being part of this organization has been an absolute joy!
I’ve been playing tennis since childhood, and every time I hold a racket, my love for the sport is reignited. The Chester County Open is a special event that combines sport, community, and service. Combining my passion for tennis with giving back to local charities has been an amazing experience. I’m excited to see the impact and community that this organization has fostered continue to grow.
“My earliest memory of tennis was seeing my grandfather play at the age of 90 using his homemade racket. His passion and dedication made a lasting impact on me. Through my years of playing tennis, I have seen the many ways sports can benefit the community. I started off by donating tennis balls to the underprivileged in India since 2010

Through my years of playing tennis, I have seen the many ways sports can benefit the community. I started off by donating tennis balls to the underprivileged in India since 2010 with the help of Tennis Addiction. My dream has always been to give back to the local community, and this turned into reality with the support of like-minded people and sponsors in shaping this tournament benefiting a wonderful charity.”
Thanks to my friend Bob McVety for introducing us to Terri at VEP and Janet for introducing us to WCFC.
