The Chester County Open event provided a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact while connecting with supporters of causes I care about, like VEP and the Food Cupboard. Having played tennis for over three decades, participating in this event for a sport I love alongside people I’ve known for over twenty years is truly exciting. It is a rewarding experience, blending my passion for tennis with meaningful charitable work and the chance to reconnect with old friends and fellow supporters.

I am involved because it gives the “weekend tennis warriors” the opportunity to get the experience of being in an actual tournament, have fun, and help support the Cupboard and VEP.

I have been involved with helping out a food shelter for a number of years because I believe no one should suffer from hunger (especially children and the disabled).  The Cupboard does a very good job helping to meet this need.

  I’ve been playing tennis with friends on weekends for over 20 years, and it’s always a highlight of my week. This tournament offers a fantastic opportunity for players to enjoy a friendly atmosphere while supporting a great cause. I also love volunteering to raise funds for two wonderful non-profit organizations: the food cupboard and VEP, both of which provide essential support to those in need within our community.

  “Tennis is my favorite sport (and also for many of our friends here) and it certainly gives me a great workout. What better way to play and watch tennis, and at the same time support two great charitable causes- The Volunteer English Program that supports immigrants becoming a part of the community through learning to speak, read and write English. 

“The second is the West Chester Food Cupboard- a great resource for those who are homeless or have lost a lot in this World. I have served and supported Food Banks, Food Shelters and Food Cupboards for a long time and it is a great way to give back to the community.

 “Supporting the Volunteer English Program (VEP) is crucial as it provides essential English language education to adult immigrants and refugees, helping them integrate into society and improve their job prospects. By volunteering, individuals not only give back to the community but also gain valuable teaching experience and cultural insights. 

Supporting food cupboards is essential for addressing food insecurity in communities. They provide immediate assistance to families facing hunger, ensuring access to nutritious food during crises and emergencies. Food cupboards also help reduce food waste by redistributing surplus food from grocery stores and farms.  

I’ve been playing tennis since childhood, and every time I hold a racket, my love for the sport is reignited. Tennis not only helps me stay active but also offers a much-needed escape from the stresses of the week. The Chester County Tournament is especially meaningful to me as it combines my passion for the sport with the opportunity to give back to the community by supporting the Volunteer English Program and the West Chester Food Cupboard.”  

“My earliest memory of tennis was seeing my grandfather play at the age of 90 using his homemade racket. His passion and dedication made a lasting impact on me. Through my years of playing tennis, I have seen the many ways sports can benefit the community. I started off by donating tennis balls to the underprivileged in India since 2010 with the help of Tennis Addiction. My dream has always been to give back to the local community, and this turned into reality with the support of like-minded people and sponsors in shaping this tournament benefiting a wonderful charity.”
